Where are you from?
Originally from Adelaide in Australia but I’ve since lived in a bunch of random places around the world and now I’m currently living in Brisbane, Australia…
Date of Birth:
February 13, 1980.
What got you into riding?
The movie Rad got me stoked on Flatland, then I got in touch with Clint Millar after seeing an ad in Ride BMX US way back in the day and we became pen pals, I was only a little grom kid back then and he was a big-time pro already so I was stoked he was helping me out learn tricks… and then it basically all went from there!
What motivates you to go out and ride all the time?
Tricks! I’m completely addicted to riding flatland haha! I’ve been doing it a long time now and I still get the same buzz riding today as I did when I started a long time ago. I’ve been hurt a bunch over the past few years so in the times that I’ve been healthy I’m totally motivated to ride and make the most of it.
What gets me really psyched though is how technical flatland is. There is basically no limitation to what is possible and what you can do on a bike…
What style of riding do you enjoy doing the most?
Flatland rocks my world and its what I’m thinking about on the daily. I used to ride a lot of street back in the day and would be stoked to have the time again to put in to doing that properly. Watching the other Colony guys throw down is awesome… there’s some real talent on there – just check out The Colony DVD and you’ll see what I mean!
Do you have any interests outside of riding?
Newcircle takes up a lot of my time, but roadtrips, travelling the world and getting out with nature as much as possible keeps me busy.
Favourite Colony product?
Stoked on my Colony Cube frame for sure but also the TLD stem is awesome! Perfect height and reach and I hear a lot of street riders are digging it too as it makes nose wheelies and other front wheel tricks easier.
What do you do for a job?
Most of my time is spent on Newcircle, running Australia’s first and only Pro Flatland BMX Store. I’m also busing helping to run Flatland Australia as well with keeping all the news, updates on the DownUnderGround contest happening and info for beginners all sorted.
Bands you listen to:
I’ll listen to pretty much everything, but when I’m riding it’ll pretty much be some good hip-hop (and I don’t mind a little Aus hip-hop ya know haha) and when I’m chilling maybe a little chill house music or smooth electronica to get the mood haha.
Tell us something about your local scene:
My local scene is pretty small. There’s a couple of hardcore riders here in Brisbane that I try to ride with when I can but there’s usually things coming up so I usually spend my time riding solo. That’s a big thing I miss about living in Europe is that the scene there is really tight and there are a lot more riders who are really psyched on riding and are all pretty close together. The Australian scene is getting there though so it’s sweet.
