Dave Freimuth

What’s your middle name? : Roland
Age : 35
Sponno’s : Colony, UGP, Baco, and Etnies
How long have you been riding for? : Almost 18 years
What riders do you look onto for inspiration? : Osato, Kachinsky, Tobias, Biz, Hannu Cools.
What’s your favourite stuff to ride? : Mostly skateparks, big mini ramps, handrails, and banks to shit.
Favourite place to ride so far? : Mesh skatepark in Orlando.
Favourite destination travelled to? : Either Australia or Spain.
What’s one place you want to travel to but still haven’t been to yet? : I’ve never been to anywhere in South America, so maybe Brazil or Argentina
How do you think others would describe your riding style? : I guess the word I hear used most often would be “technical”.
Do you like to ride in comps? : Yes, I love it actually.
Name a few websites that you frequent : FatBMX, MidwestBMX, Vital, and defgrip
What car do you drive? : 96 astro van.
Fronties or backies? : Never in my life will you see me do a frontie so I’ll say backie.
Blondes or brunettes? brunette
What is your favourite product from the Colony range? : so far the MVP fork is my fav but I’m sure I’ll love the MVP frame and those sweet levers when I get my hands on them.
How does it feel to have your own signature parts/s coming out with Colony? : It blows me away. I never in my life imagined that I’d have a signature frame so it stokes me on a daily basis.
So how did you come up with the name MVP? : I’m a huge green bay packer fan and even a bigger brett favre fan so it’s kind of a tribute to them.
You’ve had some amazing sections & riding in the Baco videos & other videos over the years. Do you find it hard to keep striving forward for videos? : It’s not really hard at all. It’s staying healthy and confident that keeps me from getting all the things done that I think up.
Any DVD sections you’ve been working on recently that we should keep an eye out for? I’ve only got a handful of clips for the etnies vid so my next part will either be in the next baco vid or Colony’s first vid, which ever comes first.
Name a few DVD sections that would be your favourite in recent times or in the past. : My favorites wouldhave to be Forward and most any of the baco vids. I really like the stuff I had in a Props Passport vid from Palavas a few years ago. That was probably the best stuff I’ve ever done at a comp and Stu Johnson managed to capture almost all of it.
So how has life changed since the introduction of your
son? : Everything has changed. From eating meals to driving to the store... almost nothing is the same, but I love it. When he’s not around I always feel like I’m forgetting something.
What are your thoughts on the future of BMX in general? : BMX is strong. It’s never mattered whether it’s at a high or a low, numbers-wise. It seems that the people involved whether it’s the riding, the industry, or the media all do it because they love it. So even when the ratings or the corporate sponsors take a dive BMX still manages to grow and progress with or without them. So as far as i’m concerned BMX is as certain to me as death or taxes!
When is Baco 11 due? : Chad and I have discussed it and have laid out concrete plans to have antoher baco video done by 2015! hopefully it’ll be sooner than that, but no promises...
Can I have a copy of Baco Uncut? Haha : I don’t think I even have on anymore. It’s not really something you want to have just layin’ around.
Any thanks? : My wife and son for making everyday
amazing. Povah and Etnies, everyone down at UGP,
all the baco boys, and a huge thanks to Clint and
Colony for backing me and hopefully 2007 is a huge
year for all of us!
