Clint Millar

What’s your middle name? : Robert.

Age : 33 in July of this year.

Sponno’s : Triplesix Distributions, Carhartt, Vans & Eastpak. Oh yeah.. & I own Colony.

How long have you been riding for? : Hmmm, must be like 18 years?

What riders do you look onto for inspiration? : Dave Osato, Dave Freimuth, Ryan Guettler & Tobias Wicke.

What’s your favourite stuff to ride? : Mini ramp with spines, weird ramps, jersey barrier & sub rail type stuff. I like riding cool street stuff as well.

Favourite place to ride so far? : Beenleigh has history to me for sure.

Favourite destination travelled to? : Vancouver & Germany are always fun.

What’s one place you want to travel to but still haven’t been to yet? : Hmm, that’s a hard one! I’ve been around! Haha Maybe Spain?

How do you think others would describe your riding style? : Technical I guess? Front brakes. Nosepicks is something I hear plenty.. haha

Do you like to ride in comps? : Yeah, depends on who is there. If my friends are there then I love it. If I’m the only Aussie there or I don’t know anyone, then not so much sometimes. It’s gotta be fun.

Name a few websites that you frequent : colonybmx.com.au, fatbmx.com, vitalbmx.com, wethepeople.de & boring hotmail. Can’t forget damn myspace.com/colonybmx

What car do you drive? : VW Caddy 2005, the best car I’ve ever had. Thanks triplesix!

Fronties or backies? : Neither, I’m too chicken shit to even try either.

Blondes or brunettes? Brunettes all the way !! No questions asked.

What is your favourite product from the Colony range? : I am really stoked on the Transformer Levers. Unlucky13 bars, Official & MVP forks. Our Oneway pegs are also a very innovative product. But for me having frames come out with Colony is a huge step forward. The Sect, MVP & Bloody Oath frames are going to be some of the most popular frames out there due to simple, clean design & super light-weight construction.

How does it feel to own & run your own BMX company? : It’s an amazing opportunity to have. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but thought it was way above me. It is plenty of work but it’s also something that I totally enjoy. It’s great to be able to have every aspect of the company exactly how I want it. I am also very fortunate to have a great group of friends who wanted to be a part of Colony & become my team members. All the guys have input into how the products should look & be like & without them, Colony would be only half what it is today.

So how did you come up with the name Colony? : Chris Harrison came up the name. We both wanted something Australian. As soon as Chris told me the name Colony I instantly loved it. It’s perfect… Australia was settled as a colony & we are Australia’s first real attempt at an international BMX company. So the name is perfect.

So how has life changed since the starting of Colony? : My riding time has definitely suffered. I find myself putting off riding first to do things that need to be done. I pretty much do everything within the company except the artwork stuff. That’s Chris’s job. So yeah, my ‘free’ time has been reduced but no complaints at all.

Any DVD sections you’ve been working on recently that we should keep an eye out for? : I am trying to film for my own personal section in the upcoming Colony DVD. It’s a hard thing to do I feel but also very rewarding once you get it done.

Name a few DVD sections that would be your favourite in recent times or in the past : Anything from Dave Osato or Dave Freimuth. All the team guys on Colony in the triplesix DVD.

What are your thoughts on the future of BMX in general? : I am sure things are going to keep getting crazier & crazier trick wise. More & more kids are going to be riding & you will see more support from the governments for what we do.

What is prody? : That’s my video production ‘company’. I’ve made 8 videos now since my first one back in 1993. The latest was the triplesix DVD. I love making videos & it’s all been totally self taught. I’ve had no schooling in doing so just from learning it myself. I am looking forward to making more now that my computer is totally re-done & ready to go.

When can we expect you to re-release prody on DVD ? : Hopefully sometime this year! Seriously, once I get some free time its high on my list of things to do!

Any thanks? : My Mum for everything she has done for me my whole life. Chris Harrison for everything he has done & given me over the years. Richard Crossley for being the legend that he is. Michael Canfield & Bob Herbohn for introducing me to this BMX thing back in 1988. Everyone that I have ever ridden with over the years. Everyone at wethepeople. Everyone who has ever let me stay at their place while travelling. All my boys on the Colony team for believing in me & what I’m trying to do with Colony. Anyone out there who supports Colony in principal or by buying our stuff. Thanks !!
