Kenny Raggett

What’s your middle name? : Howard

Age : 28 and counting

Sponno’s : Colony, Etnies, King Kong & Eastpak.

How long have you been riding for? : About 15 years seriously. But been on a bike since I was like 5.

What riders do you look onto for inspiration? : At them moment I’m riding with Seaton Spratt and Brendan Jones a lot. They’re awesome! When Seaton stops whinging anyway. Ha

What’s your favourite stuff to ride? : I like to ride dirt when I can. But I love a good sub box and a street spine. Yo

Favourite place to ride so far? : I do enjoy Biff and Ando’s trails….

Favourite destination travelled to? : I always love going to New Zealand. The people there are awesome. Very beautiful too. But I love to go anywhere.

What’s one place you want to travel to but still haven’t been to yet? : Maybe South America. I’d like to go to Brazil and stand on that massive statue that overlooks the water.

How do you think others would describe your riding style? : They wouldn’t. They’d talk about the other guys doing double whips and fronties. Ha

Do you like to ride in comps? : They’re ok. I never win them. I just try to find something I want to do and get it done. I hate riding in practice. Maybe that’s why I never do well in comps…. Ha

Name a few websites that you frequent : Hotmail.com. Don’t surf the net much.

What car do you drive? : My car. A Mazda 323 Astina. It’s nice. I like it.

Fronties or backies? : No comment (editor’s note : Kenny secretly loves backies)

Blondes or brunettes? : Brunettes.

What is your favourite product from the Colony range? : Ummmm The SECT frame…

How does it feel to have your own signature parts/s coming out with Colony? : It’s awesome! I’m already getting good feedback. Stoked to have compliments from my peers. I just hope the frame goes well for Colony.

So how did you come up with the name Sect? : I just wanted something short and sharp. I thought of SECT and liked the ct sound. Ha. Then when I looked it up it read ‘a group of people with similar ideals and beliefs’ and that sealed the deal for me. It’s what I wanted to say. That’s what this bmxing stuff is all about to me. Doing what I love with good friends that are doing what they love.

Any other parts you’re working on with Colony? : Not as yet but my little mind is racing.

You’ve had some amazing coverage over the years here in Australia & abroad. Do you find it hard to keep striving forward? : No. If I was striving forward I’d definitely find it hard. At the moment I’m just enjoying riding with my friends. If I learn a new trick then I’m stoked.

Any DVD sections you’ve been working on recently that we should keep an eye out for? : I’m filming for the new Colony dvd. Not that there is an old one. I’m trying to make it good but, honestly, I’ll be happy if it just doesn’t suck by comparison to the other rider’s sections. There are some weapons on the team.

Name a few DVD sections that would be your favourite in recent times or in the past : Mick Bayzand’s section in Rollcall is the best Australian section I’ve seen. I love teddy! I really liked Nick Cooper’s section in selftitled also. I’m sure I could ramble on but I’ll leave it at that for now.

What are your immediate future dreams & ambitions in life? : Just to get this plumbing apprenticeship over and done with. Then I can be on the big bucks like Millar. Ha. Then I just want to travel. See everything.

What are your thoughts on the future of BMX in general? : I guess people will just stop crashing and pull everything their minds can conjure up. It’s pretty much that way now, isn’t it? Hopefully Colony gets massive and we all get our own indoor skateparks. Yew!

Any thanks? : Thanks to Clint Millar. He’s always been a great friend to me. Thanks to him for allowing me to come along for this ride that is Colony. Mike Daly. He helps me out so much it’s ridiculous. From hooking me up with Etnies and King Kong to getting me demos. He’s always looking out for me and is a great guy. Amazing rider also. Derr! Chris Harrison. He has been helping me out for a long time now and always finds the time to be nice to me. Even when he’s being overran with millions of requests and errands. Maca here in Wollongong for giving me heaps of bike parts and always being a great guy to go riding, and eating, with. I’ll chuck a Matty G in there too. Good friend. Steve Morrisey can have a thanks too. He’s done heaps for me in the years I’ve known him including giving me money to get my knee recon. I’ll stop there apologising to those not mentioned. You all know I love everyone! Yo
